Classic ‘Jersey tomato‘ this determinate variety produces several flushes of great-flavored medium sized tomatoes that rarely crack. Good disease resistant (VFA). Developed in the 1920s, it is still one of the best all-round choices for exceptional taste and productivity. A favorite among apartment and townhouse dwellers, ‘Rutgers‘ Tomato is great for patio planters and other small garden spaces with its bush habit. Indeterminate heirloom teardrop-shaped tomatoes prized for their sweet and complex flavor. These are favorites of chefs and home cooks, and fabulous for home canning and sauce. Extremely vigorous plants do best with significant support. Can be grown in large containers (eg, half whiskey barrel), and are VF 1&2 resistant. Certified Organic Plants.
