Tomato, Cherokee Purple Solanum lycopersicum

Tomato, Cherokee Purple Solanum lycopersicum

$2.25

Indeterminate Heirloom tomato ‘Cherokee Purple‘ is one of the great modern heirlooms, and defines the ideal intersection of sweetness, tartness, depth, and texture. It‘s a tomato-lover‘s tomato. Large attractive fruit has brick-red flesh (not actually purple!). Tomato guru Craig LeHoullier brought these to the world‘s attention after he‘d been sent seeds saved and grown in a Tennessee family for 100 years. The original seeds are said to have been received from Cherokee Indians.
