Clustered Mountain Mint Pycnanthemum muticum

Clustered Mountain Mint Pycnanthemum muticum

$18.00

Can a mint be an ornamental? Yes, if it takes a lesson from poinsettias and uses its bracts. In mid-summer, at flowering time, the inflorescences appear to be covered with silver dust, on the bracts around the blooms. It blooms best with full sun and in soil with some moisture. The mint scent of its bruised leaves most resembles a potent clear spearmint. Of course, it is a mint and inclined to spread, but is much more restrained than the true mints, with shallow rhizomes that a yearly removal keeps in bounds.
